Hello Solara Guys & Gals - New Member here!
Greetings Solara Family,
I am new to 'SolaraGuy' but not new to the Toyota Solara. In June 2002, I purchased a Solara SE (4cyl) with a Lunar Mystic exterior and cloth Charcoal Interior. It had the standard 15 inch rims so I upgraded to the optional 16 inch rims. Finally, I upgraded the stereo in 2008 to the Pioneer F700BT with Navigation, BlueTooth/Handsfree calling, Ipod connections, and rear view camera.
Last week (January 2011), I sold the 2002 Solara on Craigslist and purchased a convertible 2006 Solara (Artic Frost Pearl). No modifications intended except for the recent installation of the Pioneer mentioned above and Vogue Tyres that arrived today via FedEx. I know many people don't like these tires but I am very curious to see how they look on a white Solara. As a kid, one of my dreams was to purchase a white Cadillac with Vogue Tyres. That dream died when I purchased my first Toyota in January 1998 (1998 Toyota 4Runner SR5/4WD).
In regards to my 2002 Solara sale, I posted the ad at 4:48pm and had 5 calls before 4:50pm. By 5:30pm, I had 50+ calls and decided to turn off my ringer. Due to the slipping transmission at 201,500 miles, I posted the car for $2000. Additionally, it was time to replace the catalytic converter and shocks/struts all around. The highest offer was for $4800. Yes, people really wanted this car and this story is far from exaggeration. I felt good hosting my version of Barrett-Jackson.
