Rough ride

Rough ride

I bought a used '05 Solara 3 months ago. This was a one owner, low mileage car. It rides rough! What's wrong? It feels as if there aren't any shocks. Is this a chronic problem?

Is it the sport model? I don't think the sport model rides rough, but it's stiffer than the SE or SLE models.

The easiest way to tell if it's a sport is, does it have the front fangs? The lip kit only came on the sport models.

Most salesmen are unlikely to know there is a difference between SE models... crap, most salesmen are unlikely to know if it has a V6 or not if it doesn't say on the back of the car.

W-E-L-C-O-M-E-!!!

Yeah, if you aren't USED to a "sportier" ride... i.e.: FLOATY domestics, typical sedans, etc... you MAY find the Solara SPORT a little stiff! lol!

I noticed (after commuting in a '91 CAMRY with over a quarter-million-miles on it for nearly a year...) that the 'lara steering was OVERLY direct (on the "lame" TOYO tires that came stock... okay, they were okay while fresh when warm...) especially on the 17" rims, after coming of 13" (or whatever is on the Camry... DOH! 8) ) and it ALSO felt pretty "firm"... especially when the FRONT would bump... and jostle my steering! (Mind you, I ran 40-42psi in my tires... and still do, but MUCH better rubber now! BIG DIFFERENCE!)

...then again... maybe it's something else in your case...

keep us posted
