What's up SG? I just picked up a white 99 SLE V6. I haven't had a two door since HS. I'm liking this car more and more. No plans to mod it much as it's a DD.

I've read a few of the posts here. It looks like my governer kicks in at an indicated of just over 130. No idea what true speed is. The car is in great shape, but I have a slight oil smell coming through the vents when I come to a stop. Plan on replacing the valve cover gaskets tomorrow and clean things up a bit to see if that clears up the smell.

I may put some Enkei RS 7 bronze wheels on it. Anybody know if a 35mm offset will work? Also, will 245 45 17 tires rub anywhere? For those of you running the TRD lowering springs. How do yo like them and what is your ride height compared to stock? I'm also planning on changing the foggies to yellow as soon as possible.

That's about all for now.

Cheers!

Chado

Welcome to the family! and good luck with the car, take care of her! :)
Also your tires will rub in the rear with 245, the widest you can go is 235.
Post up some pics.

Are you saying they will rub if the rear is squatted down under a full load or they are just too wide? I was hoping to do 245s as they are almost exactly the same diameter as the stock size.

Thanks!

^it basically just rubs beacuse it too wide, i tried 245's because i wanted the fat tire look on the back of the car, but when i installed the tire on my rim and tried putting it on i was moving the rim when it was mounted and it would rub, i would def. suggest going with either 225 or 235.

Good to know. Looks like I'll have to go with a 225 50 17 tire then.

Thanks!

That's a killer deal. If I had a black on black ride I'd snap them up. These bronze Enkeis look pretty good with the white. I had hoped to find a decent deal on multi spoke white wheels, but these are all I found locally. Didn't break the bank so I'm happy. I'll post up pics as soon as I have a chance to get it cleaned up a bit.

Thanks for the welcome. What do you all suggest for a decent performing non directional tire with good ride and tread life? Hopefully, that's not asking too much. It's been some time since I bought good car tires. The last set of tires I bought were 285 75 16 GY MTRs. This is a whole new world for me. :fadein:
