What’s up everyone? I bumped into this site today and just had to join. I am the proud owner of a black ’06 SE w/ tan interior. I got it brand spanking new in May of ’05 so I’m responsible for the 25k miles that it’s run. So far I have upgraded the:

Radio: Pioneer DEH-P9800, CD-IB100II Ipod adapter, and some adapter that allows me to continue to use the steering wheel radio controls;

Speakers: (4) Infinity Kappa 693.71 6”x9” three way loud speakers, (2) SoundStorm tweeters, (2) 12” Kicker CVR Subs with a SoundStorm amp and a Rockford Fosgate amp.

Rims: 20” Chrome Mezzano 5s

Windows: 20% Tint all the way around.

Grill: Polished billet grill; (top and bottom)

To do list: I’m looking to upgrade to the Avic Z-1 or Z-2 so anyone that can tell me how they look in a Solara please do. I’m also interested in dropping it 1 ½ - 2 inches so anyone that has done so please tell me what you recommend. Lastly, I'm thinking about tinting the windshield but I'm not sure if I would get too much attention from the cops. Has anyone here had any problems after tinting their windshield?

I’m getting the car detailed this weekend so pics will be up shortly there after.

Welcome and thats definitely a good start. I know a ton of gen2 guys are lowered so there's plenty of good info around.

And another North Easterner...bringing up the tally.

Welcome :D

I believe your lowering options would be TRD springs w/stock struts (I don't think anyone makes gen2 aftermarket struts) or your best bet is to get TEIN coilovers. The coilovers are height and damper adjustable.

I don't recommend you tinting the windshield. Major cop attention getter, besides I don't think any state allows it (except maybe Arizona?).

I just found this site and glad to see that there's a group of Solara enthusiasts out there.
As a former Mustang GT owner, it was a rude awakening to find that there's so little aftermarket available for the Solara, but I now own an 06 SLE, in lunar mist. I love it!
I'm interested in doing minor mods to the car (cold air intake, mesh grill, wheels,etc.). I noticed that someone posted a message that they just purchased an Injen intake at sounddomain.com, but I didn't see one listed for the Solara....anyone know where to get one? What about mesh grills?

Thanks for the "welcome". I notice that the grill on your car is not stock, what is it made of?

Bienvenido , the 2nd person from "Chilltown". (I'm guessing I'm the first)...

As far as tinting the windshield, Jersey City cops might not notice (or care), but once you leave the city limits.....they're going to come down on you. I did mine 35% all around and cops haven't bothered me since it looks kinda stock.

Guys, what is the absolute BEST way to lower the car, an '06 BTW? And by best way I mean without sacrificing too much ride quality. I ran a search on the topic but there are so many opinions that I'm not sure what to follow. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am really eager to have the car dropped an inch or two, if possible. Thanks.
