Postby NothinToLose28 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 4:35 pm

I have had an I4 2001 Toyota Solara For almost a year, Its still stock -.-...But let me explain...About 3 months into having the car i discovered the curse of the silver solara. I watched my car's rear end get plowed into from the inside of a steak and shake by a white f150. befor i could get over the shock the lady just drove off i couldnt even go after her! My insurance said i could claim it but my insurance would still go up even though i was inside eating cheese fry's and my car was perfectly inbetween the white lines of a steak and shake parking lot. i decided not to claim it being this was my first car and if my insurance went up it would be over my head. i bought alot of body parts off ebay and other online stores some easyones i installed myself. Others i had installed. The rear bumper took most of the blow. So now my car is back to its prevous state and im ready to do some real work. But im having trouble when it come to the engine performance parts i need...any suggestions would really be appreciated. Im not A pro So i would Love the Help^^. I dont have a pro's budget either lol.

Thanks In Advance

:wink:

short ram- Cpe(better gains) or injen
Cold air - Imjen with UPFD extension

if you actually want something that gives you good performance your going to have to buy a supercharger...

hp = money

Not my points my monthly payment because i would have had to claim damage to my car on my insurance the guy told me straight to my face if geico has to pay anything they will raise your insurance because on their record it was an accident no matter whose fault it is and the risk of me getting another accident would be higher. Thats why when u get in an accident thats not your fault u claim it on the other guys insurance.

Welcome! I feel your pain on the lack of performance parts, if you have an 01 I4 i think its the 5sfe i could be wrong tho. if you do have the 5sfe i think theres just intakes, anything beyond that is custom. good luck!

Look into an insurance carrier change. I have State Farm, and if it's not my fault, it doesn't affect my premiums. GEICO is ripping you off to avoid paying!

Did you even call the police?? I'll be they could have found who hit you, unless you live in a REALLY large city.

Suggestion

Postby JMSinMaryland » Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:37 pm

Forget engine mods. If I had to modify my 01 Solara again I would have gone with tint, a nice drop (possibly a bodykit if you want the headache) and some 18" wheels. I personally had everything TRD had to offer in an 01 SE V6 5-speed with about 8k+ in it with aftermarket parts which I enjoyed before it was totalled (not my fault). Good luck. Jon.

You're in Tampa? I'm in Orlando. There's another Tampa member on here somewhere.

I'll bet if they started to check out repair shops theyd find the person. Sucks that when something like this happens you are in shock, and can't think enough to get a plate number. I can imagine it happened really quick, and the person was an AZZ for taking off.

Look into State Farm though. They have really good auto rates in FL. I pay around $600 for six months, and that's WITH an accident at my fault. I have an 06 SLE convertible, so I think that's pretty damn good. Any other company I look to for a quote is way more. If you have homeoenwer's insurance, you get a good discount too. Even if you don't own, you can get a cheap renters policy and get the discount.

State Farm just lowered rates again too.
