We recently purchased a 2002 solara convertible SE. Black with Tan top. Not much to tell about us, myself, fiance and 2 kids. I have a 1994 saab turbo convertible (which she was always taking!) so we got her this car.

Only a couple of issues. The first is the car seems to pull to the left. I have had it aligned, but still pulls. The second is a mystery Check Engine Light. It was on before purchasing and it comes and goes. I had the car checked before buying, but they found no codes. Last time it was on, I took it to an autozone and put a computer on it and it said BANK ONE, etc. But afterwards, the light went off again. The car just passed inspection last month.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome.

The CEL sounds like a misfire... can happen randomly for no reason... but I am no expert.

Good luck with the ride!

pull problem could be caused by uneven tirewear

as for the check engine light, i think it might have caused by oxygen sensor. i think your mechanic is an idiot so that is why he cannot pull the code correctly. you must record the error code so we can further help you with that issue.

Car pulling could because of many reasons: I'm guesseing since you got your alignment done, your experiencing "raidal pull" where uneven wear patterns in the tire can cause you to pull in a direction. As long as you have your alignment paperwork and have roadhazard on the tires, most shops will replace your tires for free (i know i got a free set at discount tire here in texas).

CEL light: when it comes back next time, go to autozone and tell them to give you the number (not the description). Then you go and research the number yourself. Right now, its all depending on how well the guy read the numbers and gauged the problem...

Welcome to SG.org
Yeah I would go back and get that code number again.
And then research the code, and find out if the guy is really tellin' you the code is right.
