Just bought myself a 99 SLE V6 =D

Hey guys, I've been lurking the boards for a little while and Mole finally got the registration system fixed so I got my account working today. I picked up a 99 Silver SLE V6 coupe a couple of weeks ago and I'm definately having fun with it.. although it's a bit sluggish for my tastes (I've always driven american cars), it rides great and it's nice to own a car small enough to parallel park in one move =D.. I think I got a pretty good deal on it - picked it up with 56k on it for 12,250 CPO from the local toyota dealer.. the previous owner took great care of it; the only visible blemish is some chrome missing from the front grill, which seems to be a common problem from what I've read on here.. Buying the car itself was in interesting experience; I can safely say that I never want to deal with a Japanese car dealership again (every time I've walked into one, I've run into the biggest bunch of jerks and tightwads I've seen in my life, especially when compared to the level of service you get at a GM or Dodge dealer).. but that aside, the car itself is built beautifully and I certainly don't regret my decision to go with a Toyota :D..

Anyway, I've been heavily into car audio as a sound quality competitor for several years now, and I'm planning on building this car to compete on the IASCA west-coast circuit.. I don't think anyone has ever used a solara for a competition system before (I know JBL built a solara for one of their demo cars, but it was pretty much a show install and didn't sound very good when I demoed it a couple years back), but if anyone else here has seen one that I missed, it would be cool to see what other people have done with them.. I'm probably going to enter into Street Smart 601+ class and use a front stage with horns. I really like how symmetrical the car's dash shape is though - should make it a lot easier to achieve a good left-right soundstage.. I'm definately looking forward to tearing the car apart .

Anyway, I'm really liking this board as a resoruce for info on the car (has been very useful at times, especially with key programming since the guys at Toyota wanted an arm and a leg to make me a second key).. hopefully I'll be able to contribute a little bit once I get some of the quirks down while ripping the thing apart to build it for competition this year =D.
