Hello again, just bought my 99 SLE V6

Postby nj99solara » Sat Dec 18, 2004 7:15 pm

Hello again everybody, I just wanted to let you all know that I picked up my 99 Solara SLE V6 today. It's black with tan leather, keyless entry, moonroof, the homelink garage remote control, it has 66,000 miles (which is below the average for 1999), the previous owner took very good care of the paint(just a couple minor scratches)and the leather interior. I also got a carfax report before I purchased it and I test drove it four times in the past month (the dealer thought I was just bored and came to bother him again). They were asking $9,000 and he would not come down any lower than $8,500 so that's what we agreed to. Does anyone think I over paid? I checked kbb.com and they say it should be a little over $12,000. I searched all over my area for the last 5 or 6 months within a 30-50 mile radius and I only found 4 of them and all of them had problems and things I did not like about them so I chose this one, I believe I mad the right choice and so far I love it.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your replies and technical help, since I joined this site I have learned alot of good things about the solaras and a couple of tricks too. I will post pics as soon as possible.

Good luck with her..8500 for a 66K SLE is not a bad price, but it all depeds on how well you think the car will upkeep! With all you described, she seems like a keeper.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I don't have pics yet but I have used some of the tricks I learned on here so far.

First,I removed the words Toyota and Solara off the trunk.
I ordered a spare transponder key and remote (from ebay) and programmed them.

Now i'm thinking about clear corners (so I can put my strobes in)
maybe tinting the windows (limo black) and some bigger wheels/tires.

Welcome!

I got my 2000 SLE V6 last month!

Paid about the same as you with 20K mi - we both got great deals.
Mine was a trade to a Ford Dlr that sponsored my racecar and they pretty much sold it to me for a little over what they took it in for. It was a one owner, from a family which had 3 other cars.

I got a key, remote asap also.
I then got a wood dash kit and wheels and tires.

Good luck with it fellow NJ Solara owner!

Sounds like you're off to a good start. Good luck with everything and congrats on your new purchase. New shoes will make a big difference; any interest in a bodykit perhaps in the future? Get some pics when you have time.

Happy New Year!
