possible solara purchase

Postby phillyclaude » Sun Oct 10, 2004 3:12 pm

I am considering buying a 2000 solara SE with manual trannie and V6.Here is the car. It has 44k miles, and they are asking $13,200. It looks really clean, and my mom has bought a car from this dealer, and it is a very trustworthy place. Is this a decent price? Is there anything i should look out for? One last Question. There are some TRD logos on the car, like here, and on the front fenders. Does this mean anything, or is it on all solaras? It seems like a lot of fun, hopefully I will be able to pick it up. Thanks for your help

The car has a body kit, but it's obviously not a factory TRD Solara. Maybe the previous owner added the kit and the TRD emblems came with the kit. No, all Solaras do not come with those emblems. If it was a full-on TRD Solara, it would be lowered (it's not), it would have 17" rims (it doesn't), and it would be supercharged. That said, it looks nice!

A good site to get an education on used auto values is Edmunds.com. I've used them for the last two vehicles I've bought and saved a lot of money, including on my 2002 Solara. I did a quick appraisal for you using their tools, and it seems like the price might be a bit high. Click hereto do see their appraisal page. I couldn't link the appraisal I did, but it's easy to use and you probably know more about the car anyway.

Hope this helps.
Steve

If i recall correctly, trd solara packages came in three stages, stage I was just the kit! (so it could have originated its life with the lip kit???)

I think thats a decent price, its not the best i've seen, but if the car and the condition applease you, then go for it....Good luck!

i picked it up about a week ago, and i love it. The body kit was an option from toyota, and there was also a red pinstripe added from the dealership. its real slick looking, drives nice, and is comfortable. The JBL stereo has decent bass for a factory system, too! very happy!
