Hey there... Duffman here. I don't have a Solara - yet - because it's too damn hard to find those SE V6 5-Speeds (and most of them are being hoarded by crooked car dealers). If anybody knows of any within a couple hundred miles of San Antonio, let me know :)

Anyhoo, about me. I'm a big Toyota lover, I've got a 1991 Toyota Camry V6 LE (Automatic, doh!) and as soon as I can find the right Solara, it's going away. I'm a computer programmer in the US Air Force, stationed at Lackland AFB (home of smelly Trainees and their hot hot girlfriends). I'm a self-admitted geek and driving enthusiast. Give me a holler if you want a computer specced out.

I assume you are looking for a 99-03 SE V6 with a 5 speed manual. I believe all of the Gen 2 V6 are the 5 speed automatic - meaning none are manual or 4 speed automatic.

For a used car, you may want to try Carmax, http://www.carmax.com/. They seem to be nation wide; check their web site to see what locations are nearest to you - they are in TX according to their website. I know several people that have had cars moved from Florida to an Atlanta location using them...I think they will now transer cars for free; there used to be a fee of like $100.

It seems the sales manager screwed over the salesman too - he didn't know what happened. He also ran my credit without my approval - I was already pre-approved with my credit union. Well, in addition to filing complaints with the general manager, district manager and Acura (it was an Acura dealer), the car still hasn't been sold - so the salesman is going to see if he can still get me the car at the $12,750 *and* either bring the car to me or give me a ride to the dealer (100 miles away) to get it. And a full tank of gas.

I'll keep the forums posted on my Solarafication; hopefully I'll be showing everyone up with a kick-ass supercharged mean greeny.

After a lot of fighting, coercing and "aggressive negotiations", we finally have a deposit on the Solara at the Acura dealer - they can't sell it to anyone else. The other guy's financing fell through twice, and the salesman I had (who is ex-Army and wanted to hook up a brother) immediately took the deposit and told them if they sold it behind his back, he was quitting and they'd be legally open for lawsuit (since the deposit was already down). Then he put a "SOLD" sign in the car, to make sure everyone knew.

So I go to pick it up tomorrow afternoon - thankfully my supervisor is cool and is letting me leave early. I also got my camera back yesterday, so expect plenty of awesome pictures (after she gets a good washing and waxing).

It took me about five years - I've loved the Solara since it came out in 1999 - but the car I've always wanted is finally mine. About damn time, too.

I'll be plenty active in the forums, so don't be afraid to drop a line. Like I said, I'm in the Air Force on Lackland AFB and I'm a Computer Programmer. If anyone in San Antonio wants to hang out and just shoot the stuff, let me know. Love to meet another Solara Guy. :D
