5SFE i4. Not going to go for many performance mods if any. Atm as the car sits im happy. If I do add a SRI ill make sure its Injen or something quality. Same with a muffler if ever. That would be about it unless you guys have any suggestions? Tint? Paint calipers red or black?

Hey Sasebo,

What part of SD are you in? I'm in Carlsbad. Welcome to the board. As for tint, my roomie was telling me that there are some tint places that offer a "insurance" program for like an additional $20. They say that if you get a fix it ticket for your tint, you can come in, they remove it, once you have your fix it ticket taken care of, they reinstall for you.

I don't know how true that is, but something to think about when you're looking for a place to tint your car. Nice Solara btw! I'm a performance guy myself so definetly get the Injen and a cat back exhaust system. I always use Warners Mufflers in Oceanside. They do quality work and offer great products. I got a Magnaflow muffler, Magnaflow resonator and a complete cat back set up for around $425 and it only took about an hour to do.

Good deal man.
With a fix it ticket, cause ive never gotten one before, do you have to pay for it? Or is it like are warning? So if im told needs to be lighter by some picky cop, then I take my car back to the tint shop and fix it?
The benifit to the insurance is that, if I dont get told to fix it then thats all good, but if I do im covered just in case?
Seems alright.. maybe If I just dont make it as obviously darker then the standard then cops wont notice as easily. Maybe ill try.

And ya im in North SD aswell. RPQ. Hopefully we do a meet for SoCal. Id like to roll with some lara's.

In CA it used to be with a fix it ticket once you got the issue fixed, it didn't cost you anything. I think now you have to pay $25 (i think) even if you fix it. That is the state getting money from you no matter what. It's pretty rare to get pulled over for window tint. I am 37, and have gotten pulled over for it once, but they were out looking for dui's that night. They just used that as an excuse to pull me over. I didn't even get nailed for the tint.

I agree with you, hopefully there will be a So Cal meet here soon. When I say So Cal I mean south of O.C., lol. None of this LA county stuff! I myself have a Camry, but it's a 2001 with the same 3.0 V6 that your Solara has so we're like brothers.

That truly is a nice looking Solara. I am a sucker for green as well. You really should do some performance mods to back up the looks of that car. Plus you get all the benefits of more power, better mpg, and more fun. You deserve it!

Thanks!
And ya I guess 6 years.. hah. But really only came about once a month for kicks. Alot of the names on here im familiar with already. I wanted to register when I got the work done on the car that I wanted. That way im coming in with something to show.

Also I was living in Japan for 2-3 years. I had my car sitting on blocks in storage the whole time. The day I came back to cali, I poped the hood, put in a new battery and the thing started and drove just like I left it.
Toyota FTW!

Ahhh... when I saw your username, I wondered if it was naval base related... I am assuming that was the reason for your 2~3 year stint?

Bingo! Well im not navy per se, but I worked the system through my dad who is in the Navy here in San Diego to go over there and live, work, but mainly go to school for an extended period of time.
And then I married a Japanese girl. So naturally its my second home.
I`ll be here in San Diego for the next couple years, working on my career and enjoying it while me and my wife are young. Then its back to Japan with me and her to live the rest of my life and make lots of half Cuban-American/Japanese kids(Thats 3 halves!) who play baseball and swim really good.
