you can leave the drivetrain as is and be content with it, but it seems that most people like upgrading the rear sway bar (esp if you're into autox/rally, and are used to the handling), wheel and suspension, even if they don't want to touch the drivetrain. stock our cars handle like FWD boats.
welcome to sg
Good to know, I guess I'll have to do some experimenting with different octane gas. Though this is very hard to do here in CT since the weather is always changing... I still can't believe it's snowing right now.
I'm going to autocross it next weekend (the 25th) in stock class, so we're not allowed to do the rear sway bar. I'll just leave it as is for now and put the rear tire presure up a bit to 40 or 45psi. I've already noticed the boat like handling but it's ok since this will be a daily driver

As for modding, I do see the car eventually being slammed much like my old jetta was so by the time I am able to do that, I'll have a better idea of what kind of wheel I want. I do have high hopes that Toyota will bring that FT-86 to the market here so I am waiting to see what becomes of that. If they green light it, well, I'll be saving up for that as a second/summer car.
