Wow, I would love my father to do that for me.
Anyway, all thigns considered, the car is pretty powerful on it's own, but can use some upgradings in other areas.
Also if you look at it this way, a lot of kids if not most don't get cars at 16 (I didn't til I was 17) and the ones that do usually don't have anything near as nice as the SLE V6 is stock.
That being said there's not going to be many friends of his shwoing off their faster car (plus you don't want to encourage street racing) because no one is going to have a faster car. It's already a good car, I have one, in my opinion it's not neccessarily fast, but it's quick.
So for performance, I wouldn't even mess with anything to bring you HP gains, rather maybe invest in a rear sway bar, and that's about it for performance.
Being that he's 16 I would focus more on looks and style. Depending on how much you're looking to spend I would find an original molly designs TRD lip kit being sold by someone on here (or like Astro stated you can go for the cheaper Fiberglass kit). I would also get new wheels ( I love white on white if you like my 2 cents) and drop it on your choice of springs and struts or jump on some coilovers if you're lookin for something nice and hot. Depending on how much you're looking to spend I wouldn't go much past that other than maybe sylvania silverstar bright white halogens and little thigns here and there.
Oh yeah! I ALMOST FORGOT, this was just about my main point... PUT A SYSTEM IN THAT BIG DONKEY TRUNK!
