So here's my story.. I'm 17 right now and i been looking for a good forum for an avalon for about 2 years now. I found you guys to be better then anything else. =] I just now figured ill introduce myself. I got our 1997 avalon handed down to me Feb/March 2008 when my mom bought a 02 Infiniti Q45 why the giant boat? idk.. we're Greek and like big white cars lol. our previous car before the avalon was another white Lexus LS400 but got totaled.. Enough of history, now I've had my avalon for a year, got clipped by a civic, and had NUMEROUS problems with it cause we took it to the wrong people to fix little things. In the next few months it'll go through a MAJOR overhaul. I may not look as sporty as all of you, but at least i have a limo =P

mods:
Jensen 9212 flip out monitor
12in rockford punch on a 550w amp
K&N Filter + custom "sri"
some blue neon lights inside (ricer phase, dont worry im done)
Monroe Struts + Springs in the rear only..
138000 miles and first maintenance ever was done at 125000 where the car became worse. =[

Coming SOON
TRD rsb (yaa they fit on avys i hear =] sell me one ya?)
all new rear bushings
Complete new front suspension
Possibly Monroe Struts to keep the same struts all around
Tein or Eibach springs all around (suggestions?)
Fix Body Damage from stupid girl in civic
Motor is gonna be pulled and replacing a bunch of seals and gaskets that the place messed up
OBX headers and maybe straight pipe or something
Custom cold air intake or if i find a good CP-E deal

Yup, lots of plans.. i been saving up for MONTHS and now is the time. =] all the work is going to be done by myself. My family has a second car for gas/emergencies.. a 1990 Honda Civic LX 5-spd with 65,000 miles.. more then half then the avalon!

pics later on. sorry for essay =P
are avalons supposed to be this fast?

I was thinking same thing for a while too. Actually went to go see other cars, but nothing interests me that I can afford. Also, after I'm done with the car for myself, my parents will take it back as an extra car for winter or the "emergency" car, so ya it'll be around for a while.

well heres the story of the accident.. it was a rainy day and i was turning left into a mcdonalds across a 3 lane street (6 all together) traffic was HORRIBLE and were stopped well beyond where i was. first two lanes stopped cause they had to and let me go, the last lane i was inching out to see, and i saw a little red civic about a block away, i figured i had plenty of time because about 2 car lengths to my left cars were stopped anyway. well, the girl didn't even bother slowing down, clipped the far rear end with, get this, her DRIVER SIDE. so the far corner of her car hit mine. hmm what do you think she did? well police came, said it was my fault for failure to yield. my gf was in the car with me, and said she saw her texting or on her phone too. i can prove anything though, its legal over age of 19 to use a cell in my area. she turned 19 in September. Accident happened oct 7. i have liability so ins wont cover it. yay. now i know i should of been more careful, but its tough to see whos 100% at fault. oh well. i learn from my mistakes.

about popping it out - ive tried just using a prybar to push it out but it wont budge so much, im scared if i take it off and try harder it may shatter.. im going to start going to junkyards in hope of finding a bumper for temporary.

^sucks man, have you gotten any estimates?
because im pretty sure if you try to pop it back wich it is possible. you will have some cracked paint so it would be better to re-do the whole bumber.

ya i got a few estimates which kinda worried me because i went to 4 body shops, all of which said 2k-3k one said 4k, but then one said 1400.. so far i will most likely go there but its kinda odd they said half.. we've worked with them before and they did a great job.. paint a lil off but oh well. oh ya the entire rear frame was twisted. it was pushed like an inch over.. but car still drives perfect in all weather.. im going to sleep now. thinking of this makes me sad =[.
