Introducing Myself

Postby illstylez » Fri Dec 28, 2007 8:13 am

Hello,

Just wanted to do the formal introduction. I guess I should have done this before my first post. But hindsight is 20/20 right?

I recently bought a 1999 Toyota Solara this fall. (pics coming soon). While it had high mileage (really high) I figured it was a toyota right? So I took a chance on it as I had been admiring the Solar SINCE 1999. I carfaxed it and it was originally from Houma, LA.( I'm in Chicago)

So I have been happy thus far. I had the usual issues as with any used car(Brakes {replaced} , tires {are next}, will have suspension once overed when $ allows but pretty sound). I recently replaced the factory HU with a new Alpine CDA 9885, and couldn't be happier( Thanks to all the guys who helped me out with the trim posting i put up!)So thats my story!

Specifics:
1999 Solara SE
Pearl White/Tan Interior
Sun Roof
Heat/AC
Mileage at Purchase 189K

Welcome to SG.

I'm from Chicago too. I live in Texas, but Chicago will always be my home.

So how many miles do you have on your car? I'm curious what you are calling high.

Yeah it was used. I don't have any problems with the trans or engine. I can barely hear it running inside or outside the car. So Im gonna keep my fingers crossed = 0 . But my main concern is getting the timing belt inspected when I get a chance, just in case since I have heard that this can be an issue at high mileage.

Welcome to SG! I too am an ex-Chicagoan. (Born in Harvey and raised on the west side for 23 yrs) Now I live just a few hours away near Detroit.

Definately plan on attending meets there in your area. Jeff does a good job pulling together small meets with his buddies. Usually we get a good turn out for the Elmhurst Toyota Car Show every August. (I was there in 05 and 06. I missed it this year.)

Hope to see ya at one of the events.
