Hello- just got a "certified" ragtop and have been loving this unseasonable weather!
Car is stock and in great shape - 35.000 miles, black on black but soon to be sporting some red pinstriping. I hope get my Sirius radio installed this week.
I'd appreciate any tips on where to get seat covers, floor mats and keys. I'm not sure about any future modifications - right now I'm just loving my new ride!
I'm in Northern Jersey and would enjoy hearing from any other local Solara owners.

^^ OEM floor mats are always good.

I used to sell exact mats on ebay many moons ago for solara's (i think it was the only seller back them)- they are cheap and you get what you pay for..(i believe our old mod here - peter the polish dude also bought some of the ebay non-oem mats from me).

Coming back to topic: Welcome...Pin stripes are somethign i wish my car didn't have!!! But i'm lazy to remove them

Thanks for the welcome - I hope to learn a lot here.

Interesting response to my pinstripe comment. Is there something I should know about pinstripes? Local guy does hand-painted stripes - $100. I want something to break up the black on black. (and because I really wanted a red car!)

Photos soon - as soon as I take a good one and figure out the photo directions.

I'm not a fan of pinstripes, but even less of one on the Solara. True, there are large expanses of sheet metal, but the pinstripes don't really do anything for it.

Of course, if YOU like pinstripes, then go for it!

D-I-T-T-O !!!!!

Don't do it! IMHO, and OTHERS, I'm sure...

I don't believe the lines of the Solara are suited for running stripes... the natural curves and angles in the stock sheet metal already generate "lines" from the way it catches and refracts the light... you would TOTALLY disrupt this natural effect with a harsh, dividing line. Besides, WHERE would you run such a stripe? Probably along the natural line in the bodywork! What would be the point?

I would suggest walking around your own car in different settings and lighting, and photographing it from different angles with different focal lengths and perspective... try to see what is has to offer as it is, and consider the impact of whatever lines you are thinking of getting...

Consider accentuating the car with other, more "complimentary" mods.... leave the pinstripe to the "Batmobile" Monte Carlo and Buick Geriatric genre...

I think you should let the swooping lines of the sylists' vision deliver their intended impression on the beholder. Some will like the car, some will not, but you will send MORE observers to the LATTER camp if you pinstripe your car...

On the OTHER hand, do what makes YOU happy...

Pinstripes and Door edge molding died in the 90's... I don't think I ever saw a gen 1 or gen 1.5 ragtop...
