Shoutout from Louisiana
Hi y'all,
Brandon, from Lake Charles, LA. Sorry to offend, but I don't own a Solara, I own a camry. Managed to buy it for such a low price, I'm almost offended to say it. Apparently the lady who bought the car had to order it custom from toyota because they didn't get too many requests for V6 with a standard. The car is loaded, everything you touch or can touch is wrapped in leather. Plus; factory tint, sunroof, AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Power driver seat, power doors, power windows, 1mz-fe V6, 5 spd standard, 15" Alloy rims, carpeted trunk (yeah, you heard me right, not the felt crap but an actual carpet in the trunk on top of the felt crap), full sized matching rim spare, ABS disc brakes all around, factory bra, and power heated mirrors. Phew, that's a mouthful. Car had 125k miles when I bought it and the only problems I've encountered so far are needing new brakes and rotors on the front, and an unbalanced tire on the rear. The rest of the car is still cherry, she took almost religious care of it.
I paid $3000 for the car. I'm planning on spending a little more on it in the next couple years. Thinking 2" drop, body kit, performance clutch, short shifter, custom exhaust, Garrett Turbo, CAI, SMT6, port and polish heads, water injection, and I'll probably finish it up with a cobalt blue paint job and some moderately nice rims.
Did I miss anything... oh, yeah, reason I'm here. I was on Toyota nation asking about mods for the camry, and almost all of them immediately told me to come here, apparently you guys have more experience at this sort of thing.
I'm an old muscle head, in my 30's, back when I was a teen I hot rodded a bit
My first car was a late 70's bonneville with the 305, I graduated up to a 69 Chevy truck with a 307, then moved right along to an 84 3/4 Ton chevy with a 350, ripped that out, it's in my closet right next to me now, bored out to .060 over, stroked, forged internals, edelbrock performer rpm heads, cam, and intake, holley 850 sitting up high on a 2" riser, dynomax ceramic headers, dynoed at the fly to 492 hp on pump gas (93 oct), at around 503 ft/lb torque. Funny thing, now that I'm thinking of it, the car cost less than the parts I used to build that motor. I'd love to put it in the car, but somehow, I don't think my wife would approve. So I guess I'm going to have to learn how to be a tuner.
Peace out, and nice to meet ya.
