Who: Some computer geek that finally got a "real" job

What: 2001 silver SLE v6 fully loaded (only 44k on it)

Where: Brewtown, Wisconsin

Why: Not because of research or anything like that. I just test drove it and knew as soon as i got out of the parking lot it was the car for me. It was more by accident than by anything else that i wound up finding it.

Plans: Fix things as they break on my own and gradual upgrades (no coffee cans or air plane wings). I don't want a speeding ticket but i sure as hell don't want to have some civic think they're hot crap. :)

44k is great on a 5 year old car. mine only had 41k (99 solara) when i bought it over a year ago. i believe theyre a couple 99-01 solaras on here with even less which blows my mind.
anyway..... welcome!

Thanks guys! I'll make sure to keep my feet off the furniture.

I bought my car back in july of 2004 with 29k on it. It used to be a lease car and clearly they didn't drive it much. Since then, i've barely driven it because i walked to work and school all of the time. Until recently, a tank of gas would typically last me 2.5-3 weeks depending.

My only regret was having the basic maintenence (oil, rotation, etc) built into my payments so i have to go to the stealership to redeem the vouchers. Inexperience is an expensive handicap to overcome some days.

I can't wait for my first project to do on my car now. Pretty sure i need brake pads in the back soon. I've got a reliable mechanic i can go to if need be which is cool.

BTW, $50 quote for a "battery service" which consists of cleaning the terminals of any build up was what brought me here. I didn't pay it of course, but it was a sign that i need to be better educated!!!
Mods: -one (1) parking permit
-two (2) new wipers for winter
-one (1) new battery for winter
-one (1) new ice scraper

yeah the stealership will run your wallet dry. ive found its best to ask around or come on solaraguy and ask people who arent trying to take you for all youre worth. a lot of good info on here and if youre having issues with your ride chances are there is someone on here who has had the same problem and can help you. either way i guess it comes down to learning through your mistakes.
