Hey all you Solara lovers. I have a 1999 pearl White SLE Automatic V6 with the tan interior package. I have no mods on my car and only had the windows tinted years back. Any suggestions on things that might help in the performace and look would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Central California. I know that my stock struts are going out and i need to upgrade those very soon and want to do it th same time I add rims. I plan on lowering the car an inch or two. what would be a good setup to go with to make all this happen?

Welcome to SolaraGuy.

....wow, I wish my father was into cars as much as you are.....

I would personally keep the Solara you have right now for yourself as there are more upgrades for the 1st Gen and the 1.5 Gen then the 2nd Gen.

If your planning on giving it some upgrades, your gonna have a hard time finding a lot of the parts as they have been discontinued.....but you never know.

......only thing RichD didn't mention was the TRD Supercharger a few guys on the forum are currently selling right now, TRD rear sway bar and drops.

browse around the forum and you'll find a lot of the stuff your looking for if its just performance mods your looking for....

Welcome :D

springs - TRD, TEIN, Eibach. These are all pretty much the same, with about 1.4" drop.
struts - Tokico, KYB. only 2 I'm familar with. Most here like Tokico.
coilovers - JIC or TEIN, more hardcore spring and strut system with adjustable damper and height. I've got the JIC's and they're sweet.
rear sway bar - TRD, Whiteline (from Australia). Keeps the car from 'rolling' around corners >2nd best mod to me.
front sway bar - Whiteline. Most here I think don't have it, but I do. I can't tell a difference because I put both sway bars at the same time.
supercharger - 8) Hard to find now though. I just love mine, this is my favorite mod of course :P .
air intakes - INJEN short ram intake, TRD drop-in. Both have their + and -. If you're lucky you may be able to find the cold air extension from UPFD for the INJEN short-ram, so the cone sits behind the driver side fog light. I think the INJEN w/extension is the best. Just DO NOT get the intakes from E-bay!!! People have had problems with them.
exhaust - pretty open here. If you want to spend the money, TRD has a nice muffler. If you go all out, JP Performance make a complete system from headers back or you can buy it individually.
body kits - TRD lip kit is the best overall. But, they are getting hard to find. If you don't mind less quality, there is a fiberglass replica kit of the TRD lip kit. I've got the black widow kit and the fiberglass is very fragile and hard to keep up. There is also the octane kit, which is fiberglass. These fiberglass kits are cheap, but will cost you to put it on.

I think that this should get you started. There are more parts, but I think this is probably all you'll need. If there's anything else, just ask. :D I hope your son appreciates what you're doing for him. :D

I live just south of Fresno. Yeah that would be cool to hook up sometime. I could bring my boy with me, so he can check things out to though I would need to keep it on the downlow that he is getting the car.

Thanks for the list. that will keep me busy for awhile with researching the different mods. My son is a great kid. he is the oldest of 4 kids the other three are quite a bit younger and he has always been a bg help. Get's straight A's and is a major athlete playing football and basketball. Have to do something to show my appreciation for his efforts.

You are a cool dad. My dad wont let me do anything to mine. Much less mod it for me.

Once i go to college though, its all getting done. I dont care what he sais.

If your son has hinted at any particular interest in cars, let us know, and we'll see if we cant get a better feel for what he would appreciate most.

Me kind of being in his position (but not really) i would ask dad for a rear sway bar, some lowering springs, and exhaust. Usually local muffler shops can do a great job for not too much money.

Again, tell us a little bit about his mindset on cars and any ideas he has given you before.
