I just purchased a black 05 SE this past Thursday and I gotta say I love my new ride! :D

I'm a previous owner of a 323Ci convertible, but I was coming to the point where I needed to be a little wiser, live within my means and drive a newer car ;) My last ride was out of warranty and the maintence was killing me. Stuff breaking down everywhere and had to get rid of it... so the search began and well I loved the look of the Solara.

I wanted to get the SE sport V6 in black, but it would have ended up costing me more per month then I was already paying on the bimmer(after the over under trade in) so ended up with the black SE and loving it :)

Any Solara Guys/girls in Dallas TX btw??

below are the mods I'd like to do(I'm not too much into racing and of course with the model I choose definatly not, but its my new baby still gotta custom her up a bit hehe)

super dark tint
auto-dimming mirror
mike-t's grill
Clear lenses(or removal of orange ones)
18's ?
Lowered ?

...in addition, as for sellecting 18s, I had 225/40/18 on my ride and the gap was bigger than stock wheels. Unless you plan on going with bigger tires. If you chose 18s, I'd recommend 235/45/18, the diameter will be the same as stock and you won't notice any changes in the odometer.

There are a few from the Texas area.

I used to live close to the downtown are in Dallas about 5-6 years ago. It was too hot for me and had to leave. I still visit and have family and friends in Dallas and Irving.

Well, enjoy your new ride and good luck on all the mods and upgrades.

Whoa! :o Thanks for the link, I never knew... or I guess never thought about how tire sizes would make a difference on your odometer

Congrats on the new ride. This site is a wealth of information. The Solara is a great car, but there isn't a whole lot of information on it out there.

You'll have to let us know how it compares to the beamer over time.

Postby LGsBlackSolara » Sat Oct 02, 2004 10:22 pm

JUST loving it :)

only things I miss from my last car was the handling and the droptop, but other then that.. shooot I love my baby :) I've forgotten bout the bimmer already :)

I love the looks, love that I can actually fit 3 adults in the back and well just love it :)

I've washed it constantly since I got it... once every other day so far lol! Never had a black car before and dang it sure does get dirty (or looks dirty) easily

Damn black gets dirty too easily, but it sure looks awesome when clean!
