I just bought a 99 solara v6. The back tires are worn on the inside apparently from bottoming out and rubbing on the spring plates. can i buy comprehensive units with springs included or should I look at other causes before spending the cash on new struts and springs

i dont think bottoming out will rub spring plates.. i think the spring perch moves with the wheel and tires.

You need to give us some more information.

Is the car lowered? Is it on stock wheels and tires? If all the suspension and tire is stock then I cannot see that happening. It would most likely be an alignment problem or if the wear has a cupping effect, then its worn struts.

I had my tire rub the strut spring plates once, but it was because I had 17 x 8 wheels with a 235/45 tire and the offset was to high. Got a 10mm spacer and problem fixed.
