Well, I'm now the proud owner of a silver 2004 Solara SE Sport V6. I know most of you are anti-04 and anti-automatic... so shut up. I came upon these forums the other night and started reading. Here I am. Yep. Oh, I took some pictures for you too. Enjoy.

My new Solara
And the back
Another angle
Side
Extremly large Toyota logo
Large trunk
Under the hood
Engine again
Attractive console
Should have dusted
Aluminum...um....um
Gear shift
When the Solara pulls up, the SL55 holds the towel. Bitch.

I love this car. I agree that this car looks a little weird from the side... but hey... most coupes do.

I have had the following problems with this vehicle (I'll try to be non-objective):
The sun roof just goes straight from tilt to open/close without a stop/pause. It's hard to know if I have the thing completly closed. Of course, I know when it is cracked, because it sounds like a jet taking off next to my head. Also, the sun roof causes a great deal of air turbulance. It needs one of those sun roof visor thingmajigs.
Also, when I put the car in reverse from park, it often makes a loud "pop" sound. I hope this isn't bad. Any ideas?

Okay... I have a question. Does anyone know if one could get a T/C or S/C on a 2004? If not, will TRD come out with one? Thanks.

Afterthought:
I guess I should explain why I got a Solara. In my price range, I was looking at the Altima, the Accord, and the Solara. Not only is the Solara the best looking, but you also get a more powerful engine for the money, and a much nicer interior.... and it's cool. There you have it.

Yea, I'm sure your Solara would beat an SL55.

Sheesh, I've gotten off on a bad foot.

Where's your sense of humor, guys?

The more I see the new 04 Solara.... the more I am starting to like it. I do like those pedals BOze. Are they stock? If they are, I may be taking a trip to the dealer to see if the fit on my '03.

Wecome to the boards. Thanks for posting the pictures. And, BTW... I thought your caption "When the Solara pulls up, the SL55 holds the towel. Bitch" was a riot. I guess I have a sick sense of humor too.

Yea, those pedals come with the "Sport" package along with the nicer seats, suspension, and leather steering wheel. I think it has nicer rims too (not sure, the dealerships I visited only had SE Sport V6 and up). The seats are very comfortable and the fabric is very nice and sporty.

I'm glad someone liked the SL joke.

Edit: By the way, just call me Boze. The "0" was because I registered with the wrong email the first time.

Eh... my dad's. That dosn't mean I don't have the pleasure of driving it every once in a while though. The Solara is mine, so therefore I made fun of the SL (these are Solara forums after all). That doesn't mean I don't think it's a great car (because it is). One day I might get a picture of my mom's Carrera 2, my dad's SL55, and his CL500 all holding cleaning tools for the Solara. That would be quite funny. And yes, my parents like nice cars.

In response to your problem with the noise when you go from PARK->REVERSE:

I just got a 04 SLE V6 (i love it!) and I also noticed a noise when going from park->reverse, it seems the 04 Solara locks the doors when going into reverse from park, and it makes an obvious door locking noise and it is a little stiff when shifting down to R. So nowdays I just lock the doors when I get in, and there isn't any more noise from park->reverse.

BTW, have you tried the E manual? The 04 V6 engine makes a really nice HUMMMM when you hit 4500 rpm, I wonder how long before someone puts a flowmaster 2 chamber on one of these!
