We just closed the deal on a big red 2004 V6 Solara coupe and wonder whether we should spring for the "extended warranty" for which Toyota wants another $1500. The Corolla we have owned for seven years has never needed a major repair, and the little 1987 Chevy Nova (a Corolla clone) that we are finally scrapping (rust!) needed very few. However, the very used 1991 Previa that we have driven since 1999 did produce a few scary repair bills. Any guesses?

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

I dont have a 2004, but toyotas are usually reliable cars and dont requier major repairs. It just depends on who was driving it before you.

other members will give you better feedback :P

:evilbat: Welcome to SG :evilbat:

Do a carfax report and determine if you think you need the extended warranty.
Post some picks of that beauty!

Yeah, the only "repair" you might need to do is to "fix" that sound system. It makes all these ugly noises if you use it.

94,000 miles + with no repairs outside of regular maintenance and the modifications I've made. Car is perfect (except for the fender-bender in the door where my wife backed her van into it last month! DOH!) and I expect many more years of reliable service.

I bought it new (also an '04 V6 SE Sport...) and put every mile on it. Hard, but a lot of highway, too.

Mine had the "pull to left" steering issue, and the TSB performed twice took care of it. Tracks PERFECT now. :)

Very good value car, with acceptable performance if "tweaked" what little you can... and SUPER stereo system candidate if you want an audio sanctuary to roll in... 8)

NOTE: I DID just do my timing belt and such recently, and was down to paper thin on front brakes, so they were all done properly, and it brakes better than new now.

G/L!
