Hey everybody

My last toyota (with 60K miles) just got monster trucked in a hit and run so I just purchased a 2004 Solara SLE V6. I'm hella in love with this car but I'm also hella noob when it comes to cars. Looking forward to learning a lot from this site and joinin the Solara fam.

Lookin for somethin simple to start off with. Any suggestions? I'm thinkin about replacing the intake. Can someone please explain to me whether a short ram or a cold air is better? Everyone says cold air is better, but then why do people use short rams? Thanks for the advice.

Welcome.

Replacing the intake eh? Go for the CPE for the 3MZ. Much nicer than anything else you'll find for that motor, so don't even waste your time or money. Takes the cars intake to a 3.5" diameter with an ECU piggyback chip to reset the ECU.

Welcome!
I went with an Injen SRI for the price. The CPE is definately the better intake and you definately pay for it almost 2.33x as much. I figured save money on the intake to get headers and a y-pipe.

The SRI theorhetically will give more hp gains than tq and vice versa for the cai. From what I've read on here it is better to have more tq with these heavy cars. Common to my area are clogged storm sewers making lakes(1ft up on the doors) of intersections so for me the higher and dryer sri was more worth while.
Hope this helps a little.

TRD RSB (Rear Sway Bar) is first for the "hella noob". Cheap and adds major bonus for the driving experience. Minimal tools required and even a first timer will take very little time with this add on.

:evilbat: Welcome to SG :evilbat:

Intake was my first mod, K&N, then wheels.
I should have bought the TRD RSB a lot sooner than I did. Still waiting on Reggie to PM me.
