I bought a 1999 SE or SEL (badges were removed) V6 TRD Solara 5 speed with 60k miles for $5800. It is silver with black interior. It runs very nicely with new clutch. It has an Injen intake, chrome headers, TRD leather shift knob, and TEIN street sport coilovers. It has 17 inch wheels and low aspect Z rated tires. (I have a 1991 MR2 but needed a bigger car.) I'm in the process of restoring this Solara it to it's former glory. I have plans to take it to the track in October of this year. The main problem it has is the TEIN coilovers were set so low that the front bodywork hit all sorts of stuff and messed up the lights, bumper, etc. Also the side skirts hit stuff and are a little cracked and chipped. I raised up the car 1.5 inches and removed the front little winglets until I could replace and fix everything.

Question: The TEIN suspension seems too soft for this car and I experience bottoming on occasion even though I have the shocks set on the stiffest setting. Can anyone tell me if the struts need to be rebuilt or if this is how the TEIN's behave on this car?

Thanks in advance...

A lot of people have reported teins as being a bit soft. i would say JICs are the stiffest and K-Sports are in between. Welcome to the site, post some pics if you have them!

welcome....yes the TEINs are just too soft! I just put them on about 2k miles ago, switching from tokico/eibach setup, and that was stiffer. Go with what Damon said, either JIC's (expensive, but worth it) or Ksports.
