Solara Convertible 2006

Got the SLE too and waiting for the TRD RSB to be installed. I think the handling is the achilles heel.

The heated seats are great on the cool days and the top is pretty good at keeping wind noise down.

I've driven around in a few convertibles ('00 miata, '02 mustang, '03 Sebring, SC430) and the Solara is pretty quiet. It seems quieter than the 2003 Altima we use to have and is definitely quieter than our MPV.

Leather is always a good choice with a drop-top and that's one of the reasons we chose the SLE over the SE. We wanted Red but not with a black top and besides black I think the Lunar Mist is the only other color that really goes well with the black top. The trunk is very spacious for a convertible and 10seconds for the top up and down is pretty good compared to other makes.

The radio is adequate but I do wish it came with a retractible antennae or with a windshield antennae. Reception is pretty good in our area and the windshield antennae would help when I put the car cover on.

We use it year round but I think it would be fine in a four seasons area too.

With the windows up, you don't get much wind turbulance in front and it keeps the warm air in if you need it.

The heated seats get pretty hot too!

I do wish Toyota went to the swinging side mirrors. And I did have to get use to the wider opening of a coupe. I haven't had a coupe since my '97 Mirage and the doors weren't that big.

Overall, I think anyone who hasn't been spoiled by an SC or a true luxury convertible will be disappointed with the Solara convertible.
