Finally found a Solara specific forum. My sister's Explorer Sport (or exploder as we call it) is getting ready to blow its transfer case again . So we're selling that and getting her a Solara.

Just wanted to know if there are any problems, recalls, or issues to know about before commiting to a gen 1 or 1.5 Solara.

Here's a couple of pics of my cars.

Oil sludge is the main one. I remember something about the rear engine mounts too. Congrats on the Solara if you can buy it with the whole TRD package. http://www.craigslist.org/eby/car/98874554.html

Aslong as your able to do the maintence and don't abuse the car. . . this car will last forever. . . but if you're going to abuse it. . . get ready to learn more about the car than you expect. . . but overall this car is great and has no major issues but just normal ones that any well maintained car will go through

It's gonna be my sister's car so no real mods exceot for appearance, like the TRD package.

I'd like to get a v6.

I'm actually gonna take a look at that craigslist car this coming weekend. I just wish it had a 5-speed and a sunroof.

Anyone know of any v6, leather, sunroof cars with the TRD package for sale in CA? I'd pass on the manual trans if I could get a TRD with the sunroof.
