Interior Speakers - 501S

Postby Yanks0114 » Fri Jul 02, 2004 3:37 pm

I have two questions. First my friend is willing to give me a great deal on a rockford fosgate 501S. Is this worth buying for my interior speakers? I intend the upgrade my interiors. Also what would work well with these? I have a pioneer AVH-P6400CD as my headunit. It is rated at 27watts RMS x 4, is there any way to bridge the power so I can get ~50watts x 2 RMS for my front speakers and then use the amp for my rears.

Here are the specs of the amp

125 W X 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS
250 W X 2 @ 2 Ohms RMS
500 W X 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS
1500 Watts Peak/Max

Also what speakers do you reccomend. I have a price range of about $250 to replace all my interiors not including the 501S amp.

Thanks in advance

no, don't use that amp for speakers
and no u can't bridge the the internal amp on the head unit
also, it might be rated at 27w rms x 4, but u'll be lucky to be getting 17wrms x 4

what's the 'great deal' anyway?

$75 for the amp. Used for about 1 month. I installed it so i know it hasn't abused.

There shouldn't be a problem using it for your front comps, but there is no way you can bridge a h/u (99.99% of the time), and If you really wanted to power your front and back speakers off of it you can parallel the two right and two left speakers into each channel for a 2 ohm load/channel, whether you should power or even have back speakers is a whole different agrument though. Like I said there is no problem using that amp to power your speakers, its a class A/B amp and will give plenty of power @ 4 ohms, but its better suited for a subwoofer or subwoofers.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.
