Which amp???

Which amp???

Postby oompah2788 » Wed Jun 30, 2004 10:19 pm

I've decided to get the CDT Cl-61A components. Now I need an amp to push those speakers and a deck. I might just run the rear 6x9's off the h/u so i need a 2 channel amp. When running the rears off the h/u would i need to power it down some so the speakers wont blow? So which amp and h/u should i get? For the h/u it dont have to be too high tech i just want at least a 4 or 5 band eq and itll be good if it can also play mp3's but its not needed. Thanks ALot! :D

edit: The cdt's are 90 watt rms (4ohm)

An Alpine h/u is always a great way to go when building a system!

How are the power acoustic amps? I found two amps from them at a very cheap price. The LT480/2 which is 100x2 @ 4ohms and is only $100, and the OV2-400 which is 85x2 @ 4 ohms and that ones only $94. Tell me how these are. Thanks.

I think your setting is very wierd. i would suggest run all speakers with amp just in case the sound have uneven loudness/clearness. i think soundstream have one 4 channel amp under $150. dont just look at power. power doesnt means anything, however, the brand reputation is the way will make serious different.

i have a rockford fosgate 200w 4 channel ( i think its only like 35w RMS per channel), it served me very well and i am very satisfy with it. just remeber there is a limit that you ear only can take.......

yeah.. someone told me that the stock rear speakers may not be able to handle the power from an amp, so they told me it would be better to run the rears off the h/u instead. Would the music be best if the rears were removed completely or do the rears add to the music (for the front passengers that is)?? Or should i get some new 6x9's and get a four channel amp?? what to do what to do......Thanks alot

6x9's will typically handle more power than components of same quality (and/or be able to handle more bass). Regardless,, an amplifire is an amplifire. A 4-channel amp from RF will be 100 times better than the amp that the alpine HU comes with (I turn the amp on my CD-player off). This is why you should just get a 4-channel instead of running off the head unit.

if i remove the rears would sq be reduced? would it sound "off" like the rear sounds "empty"? or is it better to actually remove the speakers? could i just leave them in and not wire them? ORRR is there some good 6x9s that i can get that will complement the cdt's and dont cost too much?
Thanks

sq will improve without them
u could just leave them in and not wire them, but if you have a sub system that u want to be as loud as possible, take them out

use the extra money on a better amp
you can do much better than crunch too...

tru tech, jl audio, arc audio, zapco, us amps, linear power, etc etc
