Kenwood CD-Reiever problems

I was driving down the blvd blasting my sounds when all of a sudden I look down at my Kenwood Reciever (KDC-x859) and it starts to shut down
completely. I try to make it flip back so I can press the power button put no response. I got home checked all the fuses on the reciever and car ther were all fine. Everything else in the car worked fine. So I waited about 30minutes and start up the car pressed the corner end and it end up flipping have way. So I decided to press the reset botton and it started to work fine again. The only thing that I remember doing right before it went out was adding more bass.
My question is this normal by it shutting down it's own when there is to much bass? This has never happened to me with other brands of recievers. What do you think?

funny you should mention that my old kenwood deck would do that...tho it was a very old model, i tthink it was cuz the amp was overheating and the headunit was shutting down to keep it from burning out. i don't know for sure. if you figure out what the problem is let me know cuz i have a X869 unit and i hope i dont get that problem cuz if i do im gonna be really mad....

Your ribbon is probably broken. It's a VERY COMMON thing for all Kenwood decks that use the D-mask. My last two Kenwood decks that had the D-mask both had broken ribbons eventually over time. It's just something that happens, I did get one fixed and it cost me about $75. After the other one broke, I decided to just get a new deck.
