Bad ground maybe.
Did you run the power wire and rca on the same side?

Whatever the conditions were leading up to your "telling off" the owner, it shouldn't have gotten there. Case in point, now you have a noise, probably from the power cable inducing noise on the RCA cable if they were run alongside each other, you won't be able to claim responsibility from them. Now, if you go to another shop, guess what, you will get charged again.

It isn't the RCA's and power. I heard this question asked on the caraudioforum.com boards. Basically, now since you have a more powerful stereo, you sound is alot more sensitive, so it's playing a frequency that your normal radio wouldn't pick up. You shouldn't be able to hear it when the music comes on though, no matter how loud you put it because then, the radio is playing the frequencies in the song.

What sort of S/N ratio does your CD player / Amps have? What kind of RCAs are you running? Do you have neons or anything in your car that might be giving off interference? I can't imagine your running so much power that you'd be getting enough hiss to cause a headache. There has to be something else going on. More information on your problem would really help.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Wow thanks for all the help with trying to figure this out. I reall appreciate it. I dont know what sort of S/N ratio my cd player or amps have, i dont know what that means. Nor i do know what kind of RCA's im running since it was done by a shop. I don thave any neons or anything like that. Its kind of hard to decsribe the hiss, its like a hiss tthat gets louuder as the volume does, it isnt very noticable, as i had to point it out to my girlfriend who had no idea what i was talking about. The only other thing about it is, it that when im playin music, it makes it seem like the treble it turned up a lot...hence the hiss, but i assure the treble isnt up. I appreciate all the interest. im takig it into a shop for them to take a look at it. Ill post the results
