What kind of CD player is it? Factory settings for the CD player might have the bass turned down... But if the sound quality is bad then they might have screwed up installing the RCAs.

That was the first mistake, best buy.....I think I'm more qualified to install a system...lol If you just got a head unit, then it sounds like maybe there is a problem with the connection for your 6x9's since the majority of the pumping bass in a factory setup comes out of there. Another possibility since you said you lost sound quality was the grounding. Attaching the black ground wire from the after market radio to the black wire in the wiring harness should work but if it wasn't connected or well secured, then that could be a problem. I some guys from a car audio forum that I know about it and they suggested the ground wire thing. I've never heard of that effecting it but I've also heard of weirder stories related to installations so you never know.

well first of all....you should describe your problem in more detail ...from what you told us so far its hard to judge what exactly could have gone wrong, it could be your amp, your subs if you have them...the wiring could be done wrong...don't necessailry blame right away..though it might be the source of the problem. and in best buy's defense...i got my system done there....it all depends on who installs it...i recommend that you take it back and have the department supervisor look at it..many time the installers don;t know a whole lot... i'll post pixs of my install..but mine was all done there...albiet done by the supervisor and his top installer who between the both of them over 20 years experience...but that's just one location.. :P

Another thing that could have happened is possibly the polarities might have ben switched when wiring the harness from the new HU to the wiring harness for the car.
