Amplifier and subwoofer advice plz!!

Okay, ive been talking bout this for a second. I finally have a 600 watt amp being shipped to my home. YES!!! Just wanted yall to look at the setup and tell me how you think everything matches up.

Amp- 600 Watt High Performance 2 Channel Bridgeable MOSFET Amplifier
Subwoofer- DHD 12in. 600 watt dual voice coil sub

Also, what gauge wiring kit should i purchase to have this system workingat its best??

i have one of those scosche kits (5 gauge i think)from walmart, and my amp just for my subs can put out that much rms. I should probably run a little bigger, but i can't physically fit a bigger wire in the amps

I'd personally only do 4 or lower for amp installs. Best to do it once than having to go back in in case you fry something. Also remember that thicker wiring helps keep the amp cooler

4 Gauge, How much RMS will you be pushing?

If you're ever going to expand into a component system upfront 4 ga., if it's only going to be the sub and never anything else 4 ga. (b/c trust me, if never stops with the sub, it only starts with it). And if you really want to get into audio then check out diyma.com

Is the dvc sub, rated at 300rms per coil? Or is it rated at 600 per coil? Also is the amp rated at 600rms X 1 (bridged)? Or is the amp rated at 600rms X 2?

Please clarify what the ratings are. Also do you plan on running bridged or 2 channel?

Are they Dual 4 OHM and dual 2 OHM voice coils? That will make a big difference on how many watts are actually being displaced. This will also help determine your wiring set up. There are different ways to wire different systems. BTW, why did you buy a 2 channel amp when you only have one sub? I mean, wiring this is not going to be any more difficult I guess, but why not a monoblock amp?

For the wiring, wait until you receive your amp. Check to see what the largest size wire the terminal can accept. Use that. It wouldn't make sense to run a 0 gauge wire if the amps power terminal can't accept 0 gauge...unless you are planning to upgrade your system later.

i suggested a Mono Amp in his older posts he made. guess you learn form your mistakes , two channel amp isnt that bad . but if your running just a sub why a two channel amp and not Mono

i was all about a mono amp ruski, but im so broke that i bought the first cheapest thing i could find. just so happens, its a two channel. but yea, thanx 4 all tha input. honk if you ever see me in the I.E.

and my sub is 4ohm+4ohm. im gna try runnin it bridged on the two channel amp.the amp is 300 a terminal

Is your amp an American Legacy LA460, and your sub a DHD NTX-6612?

In your instance, buying this "600w" amp to save money cut your POWER in half. Because assuming you bought the two above mentioned items, you will have to run your sub at an 8 ohm impedance, which reduces your 600w(@ 4 OHM) bridged power to a lousy 300w(@ 8 OHM). Here is how you will wire your system.



In your situation you tried to save money, but to get this same outcome you could have bought a monoblock 300w amp and pushed the same power for way less money. Or you could have done it right, saved a little bit longer, and purchased a 600w(@ 2 OHM) monoblock amp so you wouldn't be overpowering your amp. Let us know which blows first, your sub or amp...shoulda listened to Ruski. lol. If you do take our advice and get a 600w mono amp let us know so we can help you hook it up right, and help you set your gains so you arent overpowering the woofer.
