Solara 2003 convertible aftermarket stereo install

Hi,

I needed to replace the stock JBL factory installed stereo in my car with an aftermarket one because I need 1 DIN of space for my amateur mobile xcvr. So I ordered a JVC KD-G230 and have been reading the various posts on this forum including the helpful yahoo message post detailing the removal/installation of the stock/aftermarket stereo. After reading the howto and other posts, I have a few questions. I will be grateful if these are answered.

1. Is the factory installed subwoofer still usable after installing the aftermarket stereo? If yes, how does my no-subwoofer-amp stereo drive it?

2. The stock system has an automatic antenna. I see that the JVC KD-G230 can control the auto antenna. Is there anything special that I need to do to keep that functionality? Or, do I lose the functionality, in which case what kind of antenna is recommended for this unit?

3. I ordered the Metra 70-1761 Toyota Vehicle Harness. The picture of the product shows two connectors with a bunch of wires dangling from each. Plus, I have a connector that came with the JVC HU that also has a bunch of wires hanging from it. How do these three fit each other?

4. To connect the cables, the howto mentioned some molex connectors. Can someone please point me to a more specific part number or description that I can look for at Fry's or Radioshack.

5. The manual for the Amateur xcvr (ICOM IC 2200H) advises against plugging the power cable through the car's fuse unit. Instead, it asks you to run a cable directly from the battery and then through the 20A fuses supplies with the xcvr. What is the best way to achieve this?

6. The Amateur xcvr has no fan, only a heatsink. Can someone please recommend a fan for this setup (stereo + xcvr) and possible mounting locations for the fan?

TIA and I WILL post all the detailed information along with photos once I have successfully installed everything.

Also, is the JVC KD-G230 with 20W RMS x 4 sufficient to drive the stock speakers?
