That poses at least one problem, potentially two...
The 1242D is the newer, replacement model of the 1241D... In some cases companies simply rebrand their new subs and leave the rest the same... In this case, however, Alpine COMPLETELY redesigned the subs, and the 1241D is actually more comparable to the newer Type S series than Type R series... So, while both subs are DVC 4Ohm subs and will place a similar load onto the amplifier (perhaps not the exact same), they are mismatched and will sound entirely different. Also, the power handling of the subs are different as well.
The other issue is that, as stated above, those are DVC 4Ohm subs, meaning they can each be wired in 2Ohms or 8Ohms, or together be wired in 1Ohm or 4Ohms... I can't remember what amplifier you had right off the top of my head (Power Acoustik, SPL or something?) but if you have your subs connected in a 4Ohm load to it you are not seeing anywhere near it's capability... Although I also can't remember if your particular amp is 1Ohm stable, so this may be a potential issue as well...
What amp do you have again?
