hari-bhari wrote:point noted. but arent all of those items stacked in horizontal layers? if its mounted vertically it decreases the chances of them hitting each other. at any rate, you gotta make the best of a non-ideal situation. i do know some ppl using solid state drives, but the cost is much higher and very few people have had problems with the laptop drives. here are some threads to reference:

yes, in theory mounting them horizontally will help, but the thing is the read/write heads are nano meters away from the platter, any vibration can cause it to touch the platter, hence the IBM technology, that ur IBM laptop has, where if it senses vibration, itll shut the hard drive off, what it does is sends the read/write heads back into the off position, moving them away from the platters. The click noises u hear when u shut down a computer, is the read/write head moving to its off position.

I was just giving you a simple, effect solution to disc drives, which is flash memory.

how do you find the size of the text during driving? from the video it looked like it was easy to incorrectly select a song etc.

i'm so wary of getting a touch screen user interface because i'm so used to navigating via buttons...

its not bad, you get used to it after a while, everything is sized so that its fairly clickable. of course i would never try and read the name of a song while driving because it does take a bit too long
