The Alpine by a LONG shot... It's a far superior unit in every single way... Better reliability / durability, better sound quality, the Bass Engine adjustments ROCK, and it has all the features / expandability you need for nearly any system...

Pioneers have face plate connection problems, their sound quality is mediocre, they're loaded with features that don't have anything to do with the actual sound quality, listening evironment or performance, and they are known to develop problems with the buttons...

Yeah I can agree... Pioneer only has good speaker output in terms of wattage, but the equalizers and whatnot don't do much of anything. Beats Xplod though.

Which one do you like the sound of more?

Go to a shop which has both models, and bring with you two burned copies of your favorite CD. Put one of the CD's in each unit, and have the person at the store set the sound board so you can switch ONLY the head unit (keep the speakers, amps, etc. the same). Play both of the CD's at the same time (if you can) and jump back and forth between the two head units. Which ever sounds better to you, BUY IT!
