Hey guys, looking for some good navigation software for the new laptop, maybe along with a usb or connectable gps antenna. Also looking for a laptop holder/mount for the pickup. I see that microsoft streets is all over the place and comes with a gps receiver, but i don't know about it's rural effectiveness. Any recommendations??

I've been wanting to implement GPS for a while but have always needed the money elsewhere. The software I was going to use was iGuidance. I chose this software because it uses the industry standard NMEA protocol and it intergrates into my Carputer front end. If any thing check out this link for info on alot of different GPS solutuions.

I actually just installed my carputer, but it isn't as clean as '00vegas-solara's install since I am still using my stock head unit and have the touchscreen going off of a gooseneck. anyways back on topic, I would suggest iGuidance as well. I use it with my carputer and it works very well. As '00vegas-solara mentioned it integrates very well with certain front end software (those are free too). I am guessing you already bought a gps reciever or are going to buy one. If not get a usb reciever that uses the SiRF Star III chipset. Personally I use the BU-353 Waterproof GPS Receiver, but I have it inside on the rear deck. It works very well.
