Na there is an actual way to do it on each model. On mine I can be driving and watching a movie, i think there is an actual thing that you buy to bypass to parking brake. I'll check though

You have two wires foot brake and emergency brake one is on the brain box and one on the head unit (new models). Their is a sequence that you have to do I dont think that their is a way to by-pass it completly. On other brands all you have to do is ground one wire and you are fine. If you find a way of completely by-passing it let us know. Good luck

this being solaraguy, the cheapest is to install two togel switches one to pos and one to neg. then flip the correct sequence

Thanks Jaime for the help.

If you'd done this before, could you please tell me the wire color for the Solara's foot-brake?

Really appreciated.

Jaime, thanks.

I've followed the step-by-step, but to no success. Just wondering if the 1003 and 1005 are different in the setting?

as for the foot-brake wire, it's green/white though.

Do you have any more trick for the 1003?

Gunman,
Could you show me how to bypass with 2 toggle switches?

Thanks.

you need one toggle switches, the one that goes to the foot brake(yellow/black) goes to the green w/ white stripe on the lower right side of the fuse block. then take the yellow w/ blue stripe and connect that to a switch that shows ground. You would then press the brake, while doing that, fiip the toggle switch 3 times and let go of the foot brake. If you want a simpler way look online for the alpine bypass mod. you give it power ground and remote turn on as well as the two yellow striped wires and bingo, no more ghetto rice switches, it will do it automatically every time you turn on the alpine unit. Ive seen em anywhere from 40 - 100 bucks online.

True dat! ^

I used a toggle switch from radio shack.

Hit the brake, toggle up down up, and I can drive with video!

Yeah, sorry the brake is green.

Gunman and Solara1, thank you very much for your help.

However, I've tried and tried and nothing worked. I tried to switch it fast, slow, up, down....grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....and that damn message "off for safety" never gone.

Finally, I gave up and bought a bypass on ebay. Hopefully, I don't have to mess with it at all.

Really appreciated your help.

Solara1,

That gadget is the Black Box R1. I bought it @ ebay for $50. I've not got it yet, hope it worths it.

The Black Box R1 allows the use of an in-line manual switch connected in series to the remote "on" (solid blue with white stripe) wire that you can hide anywhere allowing you to turn "off" or turn back "on" the Black Box R1 bypass sequence at will while driving!! This is great for the times when you don't want someone to know the video is bypassed in the car.

I could turn it off when the cop knock on my window. :-)
