ok,

I have most of the wires hooked up but can't figure out the speaker wires. Right now I have only the front right hooked up but it still goes through the built in amp, so all of the speakers still sound of that 1 connection.

Am I supposed to remove the built in amp then wire the speakers directly? right now there's a really high pitched sound that goes up and down with my gas pedal. Did I connect something wrong? I followed the diagram that came with the player, but of course some stuff were left out cause I don't need them (rear camera, etc.)

On the factory harness, there's the grey wire in 10th spot (shield ground). I dont know where this goes because in 20th spot is the ground wire. And I dont know where the 17th (beep) and 7th (mute) wire goes.

Its also weird to me because after I got all the other wires connected, there was 5 left for all the speakers.... hmmmm.

anyone have this unit installed on a gen 1?

any help is much appreciated!

Hey Deion,
I got the same HU on my Gen 2, however, im not too knowledgeable of it because I didnt do the installation. Thing are now even more of a mess for me since I fried some fuses due to the backup camera.

You dont have to remove the built in amp, you connect the other speaker wires like you connected the right speaker. Problem is, you have to find the wire on the wire that carries to the left speaker. For my gen 2, i believe the front right and left stereo wires were on the passenger side, and the rear left and right speaker wires were on the driver side.

I actually used the diagram from the lexus HU.

http://carstereohelp.net/wireharness_Toyota5.htm

Everything was the same, except a few wires that I couldnt figure out. Like the mute, beep, and signal ground wires. And how they have the 18 and 19 spots as (Rear spk RT (+), Rear spk LFT (-).... hmmm. what happened to the rear rt (-) and rear lft (+)??? I think that's where I'm so lost. I have 3 wires to connect from the factory still, but dont know where they go.

All I was really worried about was blowing the unit, at least i know now that i have all the power wires connect right, just have to worry about the speakers and that high pitched sound that goes up and down with my gas.

I connected the wires by soldering them together then covering with electric tape. Do you think that there may be a signal mix through the tape or something causing the high pitch noise?

hm..... i guess more guess and testing tomorrow.
