What do you guys think? is there any other brands i should take a look at? Im not into the DVD VI/VO stuff.. just the GPS

The magellan 700 is pretty sweet. There is now the 760 which is the updated 700 and the new 800 which is the 760 with more bells and whistles.

You might also want to check out the tom tom 700 or the garmin 7520.

As a Magellan owner, I can without hesitation say that Roadmates are as about as turn-key as you can get. You can pretty much turn them on and begin using it without having to consult the manual.

There are some features lacking in the 700 that are present in the 760 and 800 such as being able to put in a series of addresses and having the unit figure out a route, and, well, there are other things that escape me at the moment.
