Well if the rattle is in the trunk. Simply take out your system, take up the spare tire cover/floor and sounddead around the trunk and what not. It is most likely the spoiler. Hit some bass and hold onto the trunk and see if you can use your body weight to cure the rattle.

is cheaper sounddeadener that works well. Dynomat you pay for all their advertisemetn and TV time and what not.

I recently did my entire trunk with the dynamat extreme "bulk pack".
I did a google search and found it for $149.00 at a place that wasn't too far from me so I went and picked it up to save on shipping, i dont remember the square yards of the pack but it was enough for my entire trunk and I still had some left over to put behind my license plate.
I did the install myself (first time) and it wasn't hard at all, all you need is the dynamat($149), a box cutter($1), a small roller($3) and a some free time($0).
As far as the spoiler rattling I took the spoiler off removed the old double sided tape that was on there cleaned it off and put all new double sided tape on and put the spoiler back on. Of everyone I know I am the only one who has clear hard hitting bass with no rattles or buzzing sounds no matter how hard I bump it.
In my opinion well worth the money and time you won't regret it

Rattling

Postby brad44nb » Sat Oct 01, 2005 5:01 am

I recently bought 10'' subs and noticed a lot of rattling. I went to the trunk and realized it was something on my rear deck. I put pressure with my hand on the rear break light on the deck and it stopped. This probably stopped since it put pressure underneath where that bracket is. I will try this procedure and see how it works. thanks.!!!!!!

it's easy as hell to pull up the carpet in your trunk. the carpet is only held in by fasteners. :/

Dynomat Dynomat Dynomat!! It's in your budget! Get the tar stuff with the foil...I believe it's the second to last strongest - "deadener"? I bought one roll for around $30 5 years ago to deaden the sound in my rattly civic with a supra spoiler. Instead of just lining your entire trunk with it, cut it into shapes that fits the troublesome area's. Layer two chunks ontop of each other where the spoiler is bolted to the trunk, a big rectangle where your license plate is (possible double up on the layers) and large cut rectangles along the trunk lid. You don't need it anywhere else. Granted, my civic trunk was much smaller then the solara but one roll did the trick. I had 500w juicing twin 12 inch Fosgate.

If I can make this POS trunk not rattle (laughs aside, I designed and customized this car in 98   )...good lord what was I thinking - you can unrattlize your solara:

Dude, you need to try searching for the Dynomat on Bizrate.com, they'll pull up the cheapest web sites on the internet and even highlight the safest and most reliable online companies to purchase from. For the price of filling up an entire tank of gas you can purchase 2-4 sheets of 10"x10" or something around those dimensions, they even have a trunk kit designed to fulfill all your needs, just research it, even the extreme stuff isn't that expensive. I've found kits for the "whole car" for around $150, these kits definitely have enough for the entire car. Either way, it's still your choice. Good luck with everything.
Peace.

ahhh beat me to it. but anyhow. forget the dynamat. the cheap version stuff might not last long, and the expensive stuff is well.... too expensive.. i say if you're going to deaden your car, go with raammat bxt (what i'm running) or secondskin damplifier. and just to reiterate what was mentioned by cam2xrunner this link is very very helpful

it certainly helped me make my final decision in choosing the best deadener for price/performance
