I have two Kicker 05CVR15-4 - Kicker 15" dual 4 ohm voice coil subwoofers they are 500 watt RMS and 500 watt Peak Power. What amp should I use to power them? Should I power them @ 1 Ohms or 4 Ohms?

Price range?
SPL or SQ?
You want to run them mono or stereo?

500W RMS and 500W Peak? You mean 500W RMS and 1000W Peak, right?

Under 350 for the amp.

SPL and a little SQ. I want to be able to listen to my music as well as feel it.

I meant 500 RMS and 1000 Peak.

Mono or stereo. I will take your opinon.

Well just to help start you out. Those are fine subs for your first time. But, 15's you need a pretty big box(~2cubes), espically ported. Can I assume you have a Solara? Are you willing to give up the trunk space? If so, and your getting them cheap then fine.

For an amp, if you wire them up @ 4ohms you can find a cheaper amp then a D Class/Mono amp. If you want cheaper then find a powerfull 2 channel that when "bridged" will give you 800ish watts. For wiring... www.knukonceptz.com

Yeah, I have a Solara. I will probably go with a pre-fab box. I will someday build a ported box fiberglass and mdf. Something a little bit more of eye-candy. I have had these subs since the time they came out sitting in my room I really need to get them installed.

I have been thinking about just installing one. It would free up some trunk space and since Im not looking for a SPL world record I think it would satisfy my needs.

I would really appreciate a specific model and brand name. I never really know what amp to go with. Thanks alot. :)

I think this would be a good match for one of the 15's:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOR801

You could run both of them on that amp too, but it'd have to be at 4ohms. I agree that running a single 15 would probably be a better choice, preserving trunk space while still providing plenty of low-end muscle.

I had a set of Kicker Solo Baric L7's (15 inch square subs) also but decided not to install them and ended up selling them.

I have two Rockford Fosgate 500a2 amps that are brand new in the box (old style) that I never used. They've been sitting around and I don't have subs anymore to use these, was negotiating about selling them or keeping them for future possibilities.

I'll also be in the Massachusetts area around the 20th of August and you can come and pick them up if its driving distance from you.

If your interested, shoot me a pm...... 8)

This is the part I hate about systems. I can never do the math or know how many OHMS and all that stuff. I can never fiqure it out.

I am interested in the RF Amp(s)

If I was to run a single 15 inch subwoofer what Ohm Level would I run it @?

You have two options with a DVC 4ohm: 2ohm (parallel) or 8ohm(series). If you run both of the subs, double those figures. Most people run the lowest ohm load that their amp will support to get the most out of the amp.

An average mono amp will support 2ohm and a 2-channel will support 2ohm stereo/2ohm bridged. Beefy amps will go down to half that. Both of my 2-channel Autotek amps support 1ohm bridged. And if you want to separate the girly amps from the manly amps, look at the fuse ratings. If it's rated for 1000W and only has two 10A fuses, something's wrong, lol.

Alot of the Amps. I have looked @ are rated for 500 Watts RMS @ 2 OHM Peak 1000 Watts. So that is basically what I need. It seems to be pretty popular power rating.

Would this MTX Amp do the job?

Dynamic Power 14.4 VDC
2 Ohm Load 800 w x 1
4 Ohm Load 400 w x 1

RMS Power 12.5 VDC
2 Ohm Load 500 w x 1
4 Ohm Load 250 w x 1

I was actually looking @ that amp. I think I might go with it. I talked to a guy on another forum who pushed these subs way beyond their limit he suggested that amp to me. 8)

The only thing that worries me about such a powerful amp is my charging system being strained. I would rather power one of my 15s. Then sell the other on ebay or something like that.

What would be a good amp to power one of my subwoofers? 8)

Would this Hi Fonic amp fit my application? 8)

you could get a Hifonics Brutus BX1000D for $195 shipped brand new on ebayand it does 1000RMS@1 ohm, I owned a BX1500D before and it is a great amp. As for your charging system, I'd say if you get a deep cycle battery and do the big 3 you should be fine.

I'd vote for the BX1000D. Good amp for the money and a good match w/ those subs. Run everything in parallel and get 1 ohm.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.
