stock tweet location and car disassembly for deadening

couple questions. for those of you that have replaced tweets in the stock location how do you like them as far as location goes. i am designing my install now and trying to decide wheter or not to use the stock tweet location or relocate them..i know i should try first but if someone already has done the work then hey ...also how much mounting depth is behind the stock mid in front door? will i need a baffle or will i need to aim the mids upwards towards driver and passenger?

also i am waiting for raammat (like dynamat) to come in..i have not yet decided to the extent i will be going as far as deadening goes but if anyone has any disassembly tips for doors, seats, panelling etc.. the info would be appreciated. so far i knpow i must concentrate on the trunk, spoiler, rear deck, doors..any other trouble spots anyone has encountered?

I just started playing around with my tweet locations in the A-pillars and I like the fact that my front stage is now hoirizontal instead of suffering from the rainbow effect. A-pillar mounting does have it's own problems though and you really need to play around patiently.

Funny thing about deadening. I just removed my door panels the other day and was reminded that the Solara has a huge open space towards the rear bottom of the door. My plastic weather seal was totally detached so I put it back. Well, my mid bass came back real nice. Even when I'm driving. I was going to deaden the doors and trunk ASAP but since time is going to be hard to come by for a while, I think I'm going to just seal that big opening. Funny how you forget that the door is an enclosure.

in my last car i used alot of foam that hardens. i read there is some foam that stays soft after it expands and dries but does not retain water.. i think i will try a combo of this deadener and carpet lining foam throughout the door/trunk..i will be trying to seal this door up as best i can.

there is no need to remove the outside panel is there.?.are there access holes to get deadener to it?

also are there many holes in the inside door panel (not inside cabin but door) that must be covered over to apply deadener correctly?

it is amazing what a good sealed door can produce

Do you have the A-pillar tweets pointed towards each seat, the driver seat, or towards each other, etc? What kind of problems are you having with them?

Unfortunately, I have Focal metal tweets that pose an axis problem. A little too directional and the off axis sound isn't very good. That being said, I have only tried like 3 or 4 positions and the best so far is putting them the same height as my center stage and angling the tweets towards the middle of the windshield. Even then, I'm not real happy. I am thinking about a set of soft domes like the Dynaudio MD100 etc.

What kind of tweeters do you have and have you found a better placement?

I'm all stock for the moment... what I'd like to get are the JBL 608GTI. Still debating whether to install them in stock location or not.
