Blown JBL components

Postby jdsun1 » Wed May 25, 2005 3:17 pm

Well after a week of having an amp going to my upgraded jbl components that I got with the car I keep hearing a tweek sound coming from the passenger side door.

I am assuming they are blown and was wondering if anyone has tried these or if these would be a direct fit:

Let me know. Thanks.

Hello Bro,

If your looking for replacement speakers in the doors. Replace them with a good quality component set. The speaker opening on the front doors on a GEN1 is 6"1/2 to 6"3/4 (for the woofers of the componet set). THis just some extras you might want to know when selecting those replacements. Also be aware of the speaker drop in depth. Good Luck  :P

If you're looking for speakers in the 200 dollar range check out the JL XR 6.5" components.

But before you buy new speakers, maybe it's the door squeeking from the bass and not the speakers. Dunno without listening to it.

But give those JL XR's a listen if you have the chance.

What kind of amp did you get BTW?

It could very well be the door doing the squeaking. I will have to check it out later.

As for the amp it was a memphis amp, not sure how clean it is but it seems to provide enough power at least. I actually need a new amp for my highs because I owe this one to my sister. The amp for my subs is even worse being a BOSS amp it shuts off after only 45 minutes of listening to music.

If you could point me in the right direction for both amps that would be great. I Mainly just want a clean sounding system.
