New headunit sticking out

I finally got my new eclipse avx2494 double din head unit hooked up, however it is sticking out pretty far and provides a very goofy/awkward look to the inside of my car.

If it was flush mounted it would be perfect and from what I could see there is no reason that the rotation of the unit would be messed up if the unit was moved back a little.

I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem or if there was a way to fix it. I can honestly say that the place that hooked my stuff up sucked and right now im debating on whether I should jsut go somewhere else and see if they can flush mount it.

the OEM brackets and aftermarket radio have holes that should allow you to mount it back a notch. I was able to hook up my headunit either sticking out with it flush without the faceplate, or back a notch, making it flush with the faceplate.

The place I got it done at said that it was so it could rotate out, however there was space at the bottom and the top still. Even with the spaces it should still have no problem rotating.

Im going to call a couple of places and see what they say and then take it in to them. The button colors at least match the dash, however it looks god awful sitcking out a couple of inches.

Just do it yourself..they did the wire crimping, and the initial removal of the center console, which are probably the hardest parts. After they pull it off the first time, its not so bad.

Pull the ebrake up, shift it to L (You need a screwdriver to pry the small plastic cover on the shiftgate covering the release button if you have auto). Pull out the ashtray, pull out the cig lighter, yank off the center console (about 8-10 clips all aroumd), undo the plugs to remove it remove the black center piece. Use a 12mm rachet I think to take off 4 bolts holding the radio in, and unplug the radio from the wiring.

and see if you can mount it a notch back on the brackets that hold it to the car that you took the bolts out of.

I would say that you should do it yourself and save some cash.....if I lived closer to you, I'd do it for ya.

It should be that hard b/c I installed my headunit awhileback with no problem. If I remember correctly, there is only two screws on the bottom of the center console behind the ashtray that you remove......then you gently pull out the entire console with some force.

There should be holes in the back of the headunit and on the mounting brackets where you can bolt it down in different settings.

If you take it to the store that didn't install it for you, they'll charge you around $40 or $50 easy.

If there arent' another set of mounting holes, just use dremel and slot the mounting holes and move it back till it fits flush..

Theres no screws at all hlding the console in, its all clips.

plug for power to clock
plug for power to hazard light button
plug for ashtray bulb
plug for cig lighter bulb

I was able to mount my headunit either pushed up or flush mounted, and either in the top or bottom space with a pocket in the other slot using the stock brackets.

Now that I think of it, whether you can mount if flush with the faceplate may be a function of the holes on the headunit itself, not the brackets. Youll have to check out your own to make sure.

"Holes on the headunit itself"....thats what I was afriad of. However wont know until I take it off.
