its a great unit.. has some of the best onboard proccessing available for decks in that price range, good transport that's great against skipping, etc.. Alpine is coming to market with their 2005 head units in march so you might be able to find it a bit cheaper if you're in no rush.

you can not go wrong with that hu. one of the best.

the best bang for the buck is a 9813. has all the features of the more expensive models and you can get it for less than 200 used.

Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

There was many times where I could have bought a Alpine deck. As fate maybe, I ended up with a Eclipse 55040 and a little afterwards the Pioneer Premiere P9 w/DSP (DEQ-P9). However, I always had my mind set on the Alpine DVI-9990 F1. The soul reason i didn't get it was on the cost each time I was shopping for a new HU.   The High-end units are awesome (just from demos at a Car Audio shop-and yes I had them turn off the EQ to hear it Flat) :D ... Whatever the case, this is a great chose. Good Luck on your new HU. :P
