Problems with A/V install

I finished my first mods to my Solara last night. I installed my Headunit, Kenwood KDC-MP825, and a Non-motorized In-dash LCD that I bought ages ago and never opened. Now, I'm having 2 problems:

Problem 1:
I bought the harness adaptor for the car, and wired everything up wire to wire according to color as its supposed to be.. But when I hold down the source button to turn the HU off, it flips in and turns off as it should... for abotu 10 seconds. Then it flips back out and turns itself back on. Whats the deal?

Problem 2:
The LCD Monitor has 4 wires, Power and Ground for the clock, and a Power and ground for the LCD. I mated the positive wires and the ground wires for the LCD and clock together, and tapped the power & ground wires from the stereo headunit. Now the clock resets every time I turn on the car, and the LCD will flash, but not turn on. Should I just take the power and ground wires and put them straight to the cig lighter?

You should try to look at all the wiring you did, and make sure you did it right.
Just double check if somethin' is touchin' or nor.
And just run the wires straight to the cig lighter, and see what happens.

I think I know what I did wrong now. I need to have the Red going to a continuous power supply, and the Black to a constant ground, while the Yellow is to a switchable power, and the Green is another ground.

Does that make sense for a typical LCD?

[edit]

My friend (who is an installer) shot me this:

Item | Wire Color | Polarity | Wire Location
12volts | white - white/red | + | ignition harness
Ignition | black/yellow | + | ignition harness
