Stupid Question About CD Changers

Postby Duffman » Wed Dec 29, 2004 12:00 pm

I've got an Apline CDA-7892 head unit (older, but it works - looking to replace it with the CDA-9835 later) and I am wanting to get the CHA-S634 CD/MP3 Changer. I know how to connect it to the stereo, how to mount it, blah blah blah. The only question I have, that has yet to be answered, is... how is it powered? Does the power come from the Ai-net cable somehow? I've downloaded the owner's manual, checked the tutorials on Crutchfield, searched the internet... nadda. Anyone here have experience with this?

The only CD-Changer I've installed (Sony something or other) had only two cables... the audio, and the control, which I assume included the power.

It's just like powering a keyboard or a mouse. There are several pins in the connector that controls, powers, and grounds the changer. Older Alpines has 8 pin in a circular fashion and it runs from the head unit to the changer.
