Does anyone have XM installed?

I'm thinking of buying the new XM Delphi Roady II since it doesn't require any drilling or wiring in the dash. Just wondering if any other Gen 1-1.5 owners have one and how they mounted the unit.

I don't have it, but i wish i have it.
Cause my Alpine is "XM ready".
The plus is that it is only $10.00 for more channels than Sirus. [ i think]

I have a sirius sat. radio. they have a newer model that kind of looks like a cell ph. and is a plug and play. i don't know the model, but is made by XACT. i think it is similar to the roadie.

the big diff. b/w the two is format. both have all the sports and talk radio. sirius is good for college and nfl football.

the music channels are very different. xm caters to an older crowd, where as sirius is more toward a gen x crowd. for example, if you like jam bands, like grateful dead, WSP, phish, almond bros. that there is a "jam_on" station. plus sirius has more of the "electronica" and hip-hop/rap stuff. also, absolutely no commercials. i hear xm has some. there are two very cool stations. one is called boombox and the other is disorder. that's my 2 cents.

i have the delphi roady 2! it was very easy to install. just plug it in the cigrette lighter and mount the system itself on the fan closest to u as shown in my pic below. i mounted the antenna right next to it near the clock(shown in pic). if u need any more help just pm me and i'll try to help u but it was very easy to install.

Are you using the FM modulator or the cassette adapter? If you're using the modulator, do you have any problems with it? Also, mounting the unit to the vent, is it stable? My friend had his mounted to the vent, but it broke :-?

xm has no commercials on any of the music channels and is cheaper than sirius. I would agree that the music selection on sirius is suited for a younger crowd. I have xm and sirius

i am using the FM modulator. i set it at station 88.3 but there are others. my friend who also has the roady2 is using the FM modulator but he says the cassette adapter comes in better for some reason? my comes in perfectly the way it is. as for the mounting it hasnt let me down yet. it dosent sag or anything. anyway heres another pic of the whole setup at night w/ the backlight set to green. :evilbat:

Just an update...

I had an XM receiver installed last week. It's an Audiovox XR9 which I decided to have hardwired in to the cigarette lighter.

So far I am enjoying the channels that XM offers and even subscribed to O&A (used to listen to them on WNEW before they got fired) for the extra 1.99 a month.

I do have a complaint though. I get a lot of static from the fm modulator. I've tried changing frequencies, but that doesn't help to eliminate the static and in some cases makes the situation worse.

Any suggestions on how to get a clearer sound without having to bring it back to Circuit City, for the second time, to check the installation?
